Musket Transport and CHET (Commercial Heavy Equipment Training) are proud and excited to announce Pornruth S. as the recipient of the 2024 AZ Grant for Women. This prestigious grant is awarded annually to a woman residing in Mississauga, aiming to remove financial barriers and encourage participation by women in the transport industry.
"We interviewed two top candidates for our AZ Grant for Women," said Sophia Sniegowski Begidzhanov, Corporate Communication Officer for Musket. "Both are familiar with transportation and it was a hard choice to make, but we are happy to congratulate Pornuth S. as the 2024 grant recipient! We will also be working closely with our runner up to support her career aspirations."
Pornruth, currently employed as a forklift driver for a leading delivery service, stood out at every stage of the selection process. With five years of experience in her current role, she is very open to the demands and realities of a professional driving job, and articulated a deep understanding of the demands and realities of the industry. During her interview, Pornruth signalled her understanding of the role of a driver in customer relations and showed a keen interest in manual transmission training and cross-border driving.
During her free trial on the truck simulator, she exceeded expectations and outperformed most who sit down for their first session. "Pornruth did well during the group interview but truly outperformed expectations during the free truck simulator session. We cannot wait to see how she progresses through the program," said Begidzhanov.
When applying for the AZ Grant for Women, Pornruth stated, "I am drawn to the role of truck driver because of my passion for logistics and transportation. I am eager for the opportunity to be a role model for women in the future that may have an interest in this career path."
Musket Transport and CHET look forward to supporting Pornruth throughout her training and transition into her role as a commercial driver, and they congratulate all the exceptional applicants who participated in the 2024 AZ Grant for Women.
