Musket & MSC Introduce New Pickup Number Release System

Musket Transport Ltd, in partnership with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), is excited to announce the introduction of a pickup number release system. This new system aims to improve the speed and security of releasing import freight from our depots. Both companies have worked diligently together throughout the development and trial phases of this project. We are excited to go live on May 1, 2020.

What's a Pickup Number?

A pickup number is a six-digit randomly generated number assigned to each import container individually. A trucker picking up a container with MSC freight from our depot must present the correct pickup number. If the pickup number is incorrect, the trucker will have his pickup request denied.

Truckers will receive pickup numbers directly from their customer or MSC. Pickup number(s) will be found on the MSC Arrival Notice document.

Due to concerns of identity fraud and theft, please note that our customer service team will not be able to verify the validity of pickup numbers over phone or email.

What about customs and storage?

A pickup number does not exempt customs and storage. Our depot will continue to deny pickup requests for import freight if it's on-hold for customs or is on storage.

Please continue to track your containers on our website before picking up any containers from our depot.

Does this apply to MSC import freight already at Musket?

Any MSC import freight in-transit or presently at our depot before May 1, 2020, will continue to be released to the designated trucker.

Our web site will indicate which containers require a pickup number by displaying the text Pickup Number Required under the Steamship header.

Will this apply to other ocean carriers?

No. This new system applies to MSC import freight only. However, we plan to expand this release system to all of our other customers shortly.
