Injustice and intolerance must end. #BlackLivesMatter
On July 5, Musket joined forces with The Master's Foundation to lend support to people of the Ukraine in need. Musket arranged for one of its truck to facilitate the delivery of a load of relief supplies including clothing and dehydrated soup mix from Leamington, ON to Mississauga, ON, to be sent to its final destination in Ukraine.
Musket Transport is committed to supporting worthy charitable causes both in the local community and internationally. When the Master's Foundation approached us and shared their mission to support the people of Ukraine, we were honored to do our part. Our VP of Sales Rod Alafriz gave the project his seal of approval.
The Master's Foundation is an interdenominational organization that has been serving Ukraine for over 30 years and is committed to providing aid in various forms to orphans, children and adults in need. To date, they have procured and distributed over 2.4 million pounds of medicine, food, vitamins and clothing to Ukraine. The need for relief has been even more critical given the current plight Ukraine is facing.
"In the past several months, the news media has been silent about the situation in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the conflict continues. For many in Ukraine, life is still very bleak. They are crying for someone to help. God's heart is broken with the devastation, the hunger, the loneliness and the hopelessness of his people in Ukraine," explains Stan Watrich, founder of The Master's Foundation.
Musket's commitment to serving the community was inspired in large part by the example set by its team members. Many Musket employees have stellar volunteering records. VP of Sales Rod Alafriz has long been a committed volunteer for the Mississauga Food Bank, prompting Musket to participate in the City Wide Food Drive. Our VP of Technology, Adrian Balij, actively volunteers for Pilots N Paws, an organization that rescues, shelters and transports animals in need. One of our drivers, Yuri Strochynsky, arranges an Annual Rummage for his church. With the permission of our Driver Manager, he borrows a Musket tractor and container to collect the donated goods.
Yuri is also the driver who graciously volunteered to deliver the relief shipment for The Master's Foundation. He has been dubbed one of Musket's "Super Drivers". Yuri has been with the company from 1999 to 2002 and 2004 until today. Over his long and successful career, he has built a reputation as a responsible driver with an outstanding driving record who takes care of Musket's equipment and is helpful to new drivers. He works closely with Musket's Safety and Compliance Officer and helps maintain the registration and paperwork for over 200 trucks in Musket's fleet. His insightful suggestions for safety and compliance, driver personnel and management have been integrated into the company. Yuri assists with licensing, updates all of the decals for the trucks, gets burn permits for Musket, and helps with setup and grilling at company barbeques — the list goes on. A valued member of the team, he has earned the trust and respect of his fellow drivers, management staff and executives, and we appreciate his commitment to excellence behind the wheel and beyond.
At Musket Transport, we are dedicated to continuing our efforts to contribute to the local community. On August 17th, Musket Transport provided a company truck to deliver goods donated by Walmart Innovation Centre to The Mississauga Food Bank, an important local organization we have fostered a relationship with and are proud to support. President of Musket Transport Andy Balij was honoured to assist the Food Bank which works tirelessly to ensure that no one in our community of Mississauga goes hungry.
